Development Associate

General Description:
The Development Associate provides administrative support to the Senior Philanthropy Officer (SPO) and the Deputy Chief Development Officer for Individual Giving (DCDO/IG) in their efforts to cultivate, solicit, and steward current and potential leadership/major donors. Responsibilities involve the drafting and preparation of correspondence, including proposals and acknowledgment letters; assisting in the planning for and implementation of high-level donor events; travel planning and follow-up; maintenance of donor database records; maintenance of calendars; and other related duties.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Coordinate donor and prospect contact for the SPO and the DCDO/IG by managing calendars and executing meeting details, e.g., reservations, participation of executive and/or curatorial staff, etc.
Assist SPO and DCDO/IG in donor/prospect meeting prep – e.g., assembling relevant background and  presentation materials
Draft SPO/DCDO correspondence, including any necessary pre- and post-meeting letters, emails, etc. to donors and prospects
Draft acknowledgment letters for gifts received
Enter post-donor/prospect meeting information into PledgeMaker database
Run SPO and DCDO/IG activity reports
Manage SPO and DCDO/IG travel and travel reports
Provide other administrative support SPO and DCDO/IG as required

Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience and Skills:
Proven excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to interact with Trustees and other important donors and prospects
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Must be highly motivated and able to function in a fast-paced environment
Must work well with others and independently
At least three years of professional experience required
Previous Development or Special Events experience preferrred
Must be available to work evening events

Knowledge and Education:
Bachelor’s degree required
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) required.  Knowledge of databases preferable
