This position is critically important and it represents a great opportunity for someone, as well as our organization, to lead a significant transformation of the educational experiences we offer to those we serve. These opportunities exist not only as relates specifically to the mansion, but to our entire campus. Plus, we are also uncovering quite a bit more information about the enslaved population at Gunston Hall through archaeology, initiating a renovation of our visitor center and museum which will include updates to our exhibits, and planning a year-long slate of educational programming in 2016 in recognition of the 240th anniversary of the ratification of the Virginia Declaration of Rights. For all these reasons and more, we need someone who has vision, who is open to new models and approaches, who is creative and innovative, who can lead and build strong relationships, and whose passion and energy can inspire and motivate a small team.
