Museum of the Moving Image seeks well-spoken, outgoing instructors to teach twenty-week after-school animation courses for middle-school students. Programs run from January through June. Workshops focus on stop-motion animation. After-School Animation Instructors will teach off-site at the Museum’s partner schools. Classes meet for approximately two hours (based on school schedule) once a week, on Mondays-Wednesdays. Instructors are responsible for developing weekly lesson plans based upon the Museum’s curriculum. This is a temporary non-exempt position. After-School Animation Instructors report to the Deputy Director for Education & Visitor Experience.

Responsibilities:
– Collaborate on the curriculum development for all sessions;
– Develop comprehensive lesson plans each week, to be approved by the Deputy Director for Education & Visitor Experience;
– Teach all program sessions with assistance from a Museum Educator;
– Prepare and present student work at culminating screening event.

Qualifications:
– Undergraduate degree in related field. Graduate degree preferred.
– Working knowledge of film/video production and animation.
– Familiarity with animation and media-production software, including iStopMotion.
– Experience teaching middle-school students; experience in the after-school setting is a plus.
– Excellent speaking skills.
– Willing to travel to off-site school locations.
