Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, Florida, seeks a Human Resources and Special Projects Manager. Vizcaya is a National Historic Landmark that is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The estate’s Centennial is approaching and a recently adopted 5-Year Strategic Plan will guide ongoing efforts to complete capital improvements, enhance the institution’s role as a vital community asset, and embark on a new public-private partnership for which human resources leadership is critical.

 

The Vizcaya Human Resources and Special Projects Manager will be the primary person responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s complex personnel program, including diversified recruitment activities, orientation and retention programs, professional development and training programs, payroll processing, administering performance evaluation systems, affirmative action activities, developing benefit and employee incentive programs, and researching and resolving a variety of personnel issues, including conflicts and disciplinary matters. The position develops structure for and supports other divisions in implementing volunteer and internship programs to ensure inclusion and adherence to professional standards. The individual assists in processing requests for professional development travel and monitors Vizcaya’s Risk Management and safety initiatives.

 

On a more limited basis, this individual also supports other special projects and administrative activities. These may include researching and preparing legislative action items and responses to queries, monitoring staff’s performance relative to the annual business plan, representing the Executive Director at committees and meetings, and reviewing independent contractor performance agreements for appropriate language and scope.

 

The successful candidate will exercise considerable independent judgment and professional knowledge in the application of personnel and administrative theories, principles and methods, and in advising supervisors and managers on personnel and other administrative matters.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of two to four years of professional or administrative experience is required, including at least two years of personnel experience. Experience using Peoplesoft personnel systems is highly preferred.
