This position is located in beautiful and historical Santa Fe, NM. Reporting directly to the Museum Director, the Chief Curator is responsible for curating and overseeing the Museum’s contemporary Native art exhibitions for local, national and international audiences, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Research, development, and curation of vibrant and current exhibitions.
  • Development of educational materials and other ephemera related to exhibitions.
  • Work collaboratively with key staff such as Program Manager to develop exhibition programs.
  • Network with appropriate organizations, museums and galleries and pay site visits to related venues and studio visits with artists.
  • Develop and maintain budget, monitor expenses and participate in seeking outside funding sources.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: 

A proven record as a curatorial leader. Must have a graduate degree in related field and at least 5 years of comparable curatorial experience. Must have knowledge of contemporary Native American arts, culture and education and record of publications. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge and success in grant writing; grant reporting, computer software and office computer applications a must.
