Skinner, New England’s leading auction house for antiques & fine art, seeks an Assistant for the Appraisal and Auction Services department. We are seeking a personable, detail-oriented individual who has the knowledge and skills to further the growth of this important area.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and manage daily flow of production of appraisals
Assist with proofing and editing all formal appraisals and preparing invoices to clients
Prepare contracts for clients prior to scheduling an appraisal
Schedule appraisals
Log in and track incoming mail inquiries and prepare response letters
Answer general inquiries regarding selling at auction and appraisal services
Assist with receipting consignments in house, if necessary, and assist specialists on house calls when necessary
Provide phone coverage for receptionist’s lunch break and as necessary for an absence
Provide assistance with bidder registration, internet bidding, phone bidding, etc., during auctions
Qualifications:
Excellent customer service skills both over the phone and in person; Ability to multitask and to thrive in a fast-paced environment; Computer proficiency, attention to detail, aesthetic sense, can-do attitude, ability to juggle multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines, and work collaboratively as a team member a must; Knowledge of auction house software and systems a plus.
