The Watson-Brown Foundation seeks a professional to curate the May Goodrum House in Atlanta.  The Curator will be charged with all aspects of taking the thoughtfully restored house and grounds from a nearly complete restoration to a fully functioning house museum.

Job Responsibilities
•         Manage and maintain the home and its collection
•         Create interpretive, disaster, and collections plans
•         Develop outreach and educational programming
•         Conduct tours
•         Possesses the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends as required
•         Maintains cordial, cooperative, and professional work relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public
•         Maintains a professional appearance consistent with Foundation standards
•         Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
•         Be a U.S. Citizen or possess a valid U.S. work visa and be presently residing in the United States.
•         Requisite skills include museum standards and best practices, collections management, real knowledge of historic preservation standards and best practices, historical research methods and superb abilities of communication.
•         Educational requirements include a Master’s degree in history, public history, museum studies, historic preservation or similar discipline.
•         Software knowledge includes Microsoft office suite and PastPerfect
•         Have 5 years curatorial work in a historic house museum or similar environment.

The Goodrum House is located in the Buckhead section of Atlanta.  The site is owned and operated by the Watson-Brown Foundation, Inc.  The Watson-Brown Foundation is a Foundation dedicated to improving education in the American South by funding its schools and students, preserving its history, encouraging responsible scholarship, and promoting the memory and values of its spiritual founders. Salary & Work Schedule
Salary: Depends upon experience
Benefits: 2 weeks paid vacation, employer paid health insurance, Simple IRA employer match
Full time, 40 hours per week, occasional weekends and evenings as required.
