The Guest Experience Programs Specialist will be working with the Managers of Guest Experience Programs and Interdivision Team responsible for the development and delivery of visitor programming at a variety of venues throughout and beyond the Aquarium. This position will also be responsible for providing training, coaching and feedback to staff and volunteers related to program delivery.

Essential Functions:

Development of new programs on a preliminary level; contributing to the updating of current programs
Responsibility for the creation of training materials for staff and volunteers for both formal and informal, on and off microphone programs throughout the Aquarium
Primary program presenter responsible for the delivery of both paid and unpaid programs, in direct contact with the public. These programs will include lectures, labs, tours, feeding narrations, and theater pieces
Responsible for providing support to interpretive staff and volunteer guides, assisting in training, coaching and feedback on a regular basis
Lead tours for the Aquarium Adventures program as needed for cross-functional and flexibility of program purposes
Act as a resource about marine science topics and natural history information for staff and volunteers.
Provide support to overall Guest Experience operations and programs as needed
Required Knowledge/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required, preference for a degree in natural science, theater or education
At least two years’ experience delivering educational, theatrical, or related programming in an informal setting.
Demonstrated ability to deliver educational programs in a fun, scientifically accurate, and engaging manner
Demonstrated ability to develop science training materials for non-science professionals.
Demonstrated writing ability
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with a variety of types of professionals, interns, and volunteers of various ages.
Background in marine science
Musical, theatrical, storytelling or public speaking training and/or experience
Must work weekends
Oral and written fluency in both English and Spanish is strongly preferred
