Position Title: Manager of School and Teacher Programs

Department: Education and Programs

Supervisor: Director of Adult, Docent and School Programs

Job: Full time, exempt

General Purpose: Responsible for all aspects of the Museum’s school and teacher programs.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelors degree in art, art history, education, or related field required; Masters degree preferred. Minimum

of five years museum education or art education experience. Strong working knowledge of museum

education standards, theories, and practices, along with PreK through high school learning and teaching

strategies, curriculum, and standards. Well-honed teaching, studio art, project management, organizational,

and collaboration skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. IBM-compatible computer skills,

including MSOffice® software.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 Develop the Museum’s role as a premier educational resource and gathering place for school and teacher

audiences to experience the arts in concert with the Museum’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.

o Teach cross-curricular and art-related school and teacher programs.

o Develop, implement and evaluate MAM Teacher Nights, teacher workshops on and offsite,

o Work with the Director of Adult, Docent and School Programs to develop and implement docent

o Write teacher lesson plans, reports, and business correspondence as needed.

o Link school programs with family and youth art-making activities at the Museum.

 Develop and manage annual school and teacher budget

 Assist Development Department with program specific fundraising and grant writing

 Hire, train, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate school and teacher programs staff, interns, volunteers, and

 Serve as an active member of departmental and cross-departmental teams.

 Stay current and actively engage in the larger field of museum education through professional affiliations

such as Wisconsin Art Education Association (WAEA), National Art Education Association (NAEA)

and American Alliance of Museums (AAM).

 Assist with special projects as assigned.
