As The Sports Museum’s signature character education program, Stand Strong, continues to grow programmatically and financially, it’s important to add input and manpower from the next generation of Boston’s leaders. This will ultimately help move the organization and the program forward, and help continue to build an even stronger network of philanthropic supporters. The Young Leaders Council (YLC) will be comprised of 20 young Boston and Greater Boston-based business professionals who have a vested interest in seeing Stand Strong reach the next level of success. This council is driven by a mission to develop, enhance, and supportStand Strong.

The primary focus of the Young Leaders Council is to oversee the management of Team Stand Strong at the 25th Anniversary of the Rodman Ride for Kids on Saturday, September 26, 2015. The Rodman Ride for Kids is the #1 single-day athletic (bike ride) fundraising event serving at-risk youth and takes place in Foxboro, Ma.

Qualifications:
There are no prerequisites to join the first-ever Sports Museum Young Leaders Council; however, applicants should have a passion for helping the Boston community and are looking to get involved with something greater than themselves — all through the power and platform of Boston sports!

Special event and fundraising experience is a bonus, but is not required.

All are encouraged to apply! It does not matter what your career path is — we are just looking for dedicated and devoted young professionals who want to make a difference — and who want to have some fun along the way!

How To Apply:
Interested applicants must submit a letter of interest and their resume to rquinn@dncboston.com no later than Friday, March 27, 2015. These two items are simply to help us get to know you better and to learn why you want to get involved!

Interview calls (approx. 30 minutes) will take place during the week of April 6, 2015 and each applicant will be asked a series of council-related questions (to get to know applicants better)! Council members will be notified and then announced the week of April 13, 2015.

For additional questions regarding the first-ever Young Leaders Council, or to request the full description of the council, please contact Renee Quinn at rquinn@dncboston.com or 617-624-1231.

About this Organization:
The Sports Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational institution housed in the TD Garden that has served Boston and New England for more than 36 years.

At The Sports Museum, we celebrate the character of Boston sports — the unique brand of teamwork, determination, responsibility, courage, fairness, and other qualities of character possessed by our teams and athletes that make Boston “The Greatest Sports City in America.” Equally important, we use this distinctly rich heritage to help build character in kids so that they can stand strong in the face of drugs, violence, and other dangers.
