This is an off site position where the applicant will provide curatorial insight over several private collections we manage with the view of developing them into touring exhibitions.  Individual pieces are strong and have been published and exhibited in the past individually, but not as a collection.   The primary types of art are mid 20th Century photography, advertising art, paintings and some sculpture.  There is an excellent collection of Belle Epoch period works as well.

Specific needs are the grading or ranking of art in the collection to determine what should be removed and what holes that may exist in the collections need attention to make the collection of more interest to museums.

Job Requirements

The applicant should have no less than five years hands on curatorial experience as well as a degree in Museum Studies or an MA in 20th Century history and/or art appreciation.   The applicant must have excellent English skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to converse with other curators and art professionals on their level.  Fluency in French or German is very helpful.

We are in the San Francisco Bay area but you don’t need to be.   For the right person, phone and Skype conferencing will work fine.   This is very interesting work.   The position is part time, flex hours/days to possibly full time in the future.  Compensation is very competitive.

Please send us your resume in strict confidence to director@ECM2.org.   We will be at the AAM Convention in Atlanta, so hopefully we can meet each other there.
