Community Engagement Manager

Description:

This individual is responsible for much of the public presence of Historic Newton (www.HistoricNewton.org) through creation and implementation of public programs and online content, as well as involvement with exhibitions and educational programming. This position includes playing an active role in marketing and outreach for Historic Newton. The Manager must develop a good sense of Newton and an appreciation for how the conveyance of history contributes to the community. The position requires an individual who values working collaboratively and forming partnerships.  The Manager is responsible for gaining knowledge of Newton history, and the interpretive themes and collections of the Jackson Homestead and Durant­Kenrick House and Grounds.

Qualifications:
Requirements:  Knowledge of best practices in museum education and programming. Project management skills. Familiarity with educational methodologies and philosophies as applied to a diverse public. Demonstrated record of successful public program planning, implementation and evaluation. The ability and disposition to effectively promote programs and other aspects of Historic Newton through social media, targeted outreach, collateral, and other marketing and public relations activities. Able to provide exceptional customer service. Knowledge of aspects of American history and collections care strongly preferred.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows required. Experience with social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, CMS, and Constant Contact preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in History, Museum Studies or related field required, Master’s Degree highly preferred.
