Visitor and Volunteer Services Manager

Description:

The Museum seeks a full-time (37.5 hours/week) Visitor and Volunteer Services Manager to facilitate the visitor, volunteer and customer service programs.  This position is responsible for museum-wide training, promoting visitor advocacy, and maintaining the integrity of the data and ticketing systems. Position will manage a team of 6-9, part-time Visitor Services Representatives (VSR).

The Visitor and Volunteer Services Manager will manage daily operations of Visitor and Volunteer Services Department; hire, train, and manage performance of VSRs; provide appropriate solution to visitors with special requests and respond to visitor complaints; implement and maintain customer service training program for all staff; manage the volunteer and intern program; coordinate and promote membership, marketing and programming initiatives; work closely with the Membership, Marketing, Communications and Design Departments; manage department budget; establish and maintain protocol for distribution of Museum collateral; and evaluate and improve the visitor services program.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required plus a minimum of two years in a similar position. Excellent knowledge of customer service and visitor services practices.  Integrity and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings are essential. Position requires outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication and organizational skills.  Proficiency in Word, Excel, POS and database systems is a must.  Supervisory experience and interest in art preferred.
