Landscape Manager, North Region

Description:
Historic New England seeks a hands-on Landscape Manager to be responsible for rehabilitating, maintaining, restoring and reconstructing the landscapes of the organization’s Maine and New Hampshire properties, with primary focus on Langdon House, Jackson House, Rundlet-May House, Gilman Garrison, Sayward-Wheeler House, the Jewett properties, and Hamilton House. The manager will personally perform and ensure the care of plants and landscapes through mowing, pruning, watering, weeding, leaf removal, shoveling etc. with support from seasonal workers and/or supervised contract companies. In addition the individual will develop cyclical short-term and long-term maintenance schedules and budgets. Supervise and/or perform heavy landscape construction and maintenance projects including, but not limited to, new landscape installation, clearing brush, driveway and path maintenance, performing arbor care.

Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma and 6 years job-related experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years job-related experience. Requires fully competent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualification includes a degree in horticulture or landscape management and ability to safely operate a wide variety of equipment including mowers, tractors, and chippers. Must be able to operate effectively in a team environment, where communication within and among the teams is essential to success. Ability to interact and communicate orally and in writing is essential. Requires problem solving skills and ability to effectively plan and implement work processes to complete tasks according to schedule; and a valid driver’s license.
