SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Exhibit Maintenance Electronics Technician is responsible for the upkeep and technical support to electronic and technology based components within the exhibit halls by identifying problems, finding solutions and making the necessary repairs. Perform daily rounds of exhibit areas and exhibit components to ensure they are working properly and provide on the spot repairs when damage is found and report all existing or potential problems. Work closely with supervisors, and technical designers to develop solutions to technical problems and suggest recommendations for improvements to reoccurring problems. Coordinate electronic and technical support for exhibit components with members of Exhibit Maintenance, Technical Services and Technical Design to ensure efficient and timely repairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with members of the Exhibit Maintenance team to maintain over 130,000 square feet of exhibit hall space
  • Maintain and inspect over 1,200 exhibits, related graphics and artifacts of which over 550 are interactive
  • Daily preparation and shutdown of exhibit halls
  • Potential hazardous working situations – chemicals, shop equipment, heights over 35 feet
  • 40 hour work week including one weekend day, most holidays and overtime as required
  • Assist 10 or more departments throughout the museum by providing technical support for events, functions and other Museum activities

WORK SCHEDULE: This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, with one weekend day, most holidays, and overtime as required.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Exhibit Production & Maintenance

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) or more years of electronics technician experience.
  • Working knowledge of test equipment, such as, multi-meter, oscilloscope and associated hand tools
  • Working knowledge of programming micro controllers, such as Arduinos
  • Ability to read and draw schematics and block diagrams
  • Soldering skills.
  • An understanding of mechanical and physical principles and the ability to apply them in maintenance and repair situations.
  • Knowledge of basic electronic & electro-mechanical fundamentals

STARTING SALARY: Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.
