Summary

The Camps and Special Programs Coordinator is responsible for the development and coordination of operational procedures for summer camp programs and other public programs including Scouts and International Students.  The Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and development of program staff and volunteers including participating in training and evaluation.

Qualifications:

• College degree in science, education or related field.
• Must have science related background/experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory and administrative experience.
• Experience working in a museum or similar informal education institution.
• Experience in the development and implementation of informal education programs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently on a variety of simultaneous projects.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overnight and weekends.

Major Job Responsibilities:

• Establish and coordinate logistics and procedures for public programs.
• Oversee interactive educational programs.
• Assist in prototype new educational programs and revise as necessary.
• Coordinate aspects of the evaluation of programs and materials being implemented.
• Assist with documentation of all Summer Camp programs and demonstrations.
• Coordinate development, marketing, programming, and management of International/Long Term Guest Educational Program in cooperation with the Manager of School Group Programs.
• Present programs and represent the department at special events and receptions.
• Coordinate the on-going evaluation of programs staff and volunteers.
• Attend regular programs staff meetings to ensure timely communication of essential information.
• Initiate purchases for programs supplies as needed and assist in the tracking and management of associated budgets.
• Track and report program data and assist in the compilation of the annual report.
• Participate in long-range strategic planning for the department.
• Represent the department on new initiatives and capital projects as assigned.
• Collaborate with other Science Center staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary:

$37,440 – 40,000 plus excellent benefits and 11 paid holidays!
