Curatorial Research Assistant for Chinese Art

Description:
The curatorial research assistant will assist in research, correspondence, improvement of records in the MFA’s collections-management database program planning, and administration related to exhibitions and publications in the area of Chinese Art. Duties will also include object handling, showing paintings and objects from storage to visitors, and assisting with outside inquiries. Additional projects the assistant may be involved with include researching objects from the museum’s permanent collection of Chinese Art in service of collection rotations; research assistance in support of acquisitions and proposals for future exhibitions; moving objects from storage to photography; general administrative support for the Curator of Chinese Art and miscellaneous departmental tasks as and when required. This is a term position through June 30, 2016. 14 hours/week; two days a week.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications include: B.A. and some graduate studies in Chinese art history; written and spoken Chinese language ability; some Japanese language preferred.
