Curatorial Research Associate for Japanese Art

Description:
Under the direction of the Senior Curator of Japanese Art, the curatorial research associate will perform diversified duties related to the administrative, exhibition, and research functions of the department. Essential functions include: provide research support in English and Japanese to curatorial staff for internal exhibitions; create and maintain database records and departmental research files on Japanese works of art; assist members of the department and registrar on shipping requirements and schedules for works of art and exhibitions; receive visitors to the department, answer questions where sufficient knowledge of situation exists and/or refer to appropriate curatorial staff member; responsible for translation of necessary departmental correspondence into Japanese; assume department-related duties as directed and assist with curatorial functions as necessitated. 35 hours/week; Mon-Fri, 9:00am-5:00pm.
Qualifications:
M.A. in Japanese art history or cultural studies or equivalent preferred; fluency in spoken and written Japanese and English required.
