Internship Opportunity

Summary

Goodman Taft is an art advisory and independent curatorial consulting firm with offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts and San Francisco, California. With a focus on contemporary art, as well as select modern pieces, the company takes a multi-disciplinary approach in working with both private and institutional clients. Goodman Taft is seeking an intern with a background and interest in art who will assist in the various processes and practices that enable the company to run smoothly.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reporting to and working closely with the Project Manager, the Intern will assist in implementing the processes crucial to the company’s operation
  • Research artists, exhibitions, and art projects; draft write-ups and brief essays
  • Compile and organize images and artist information for client presentations
  • Help with art fair preparation and wrap-up: correspond with galleries, request gallery previews, research shows and exhibitions concurrent with the art fair, assist in building city itineraries for the firm’s partners or other traveling Goodman Taft team members, file relevant artist information into the digital files
  • Sort and file catalogues and documents; assist with mailings
  • Provide administrative support to the Goodman Taft team as necessary

Qualifications

  • Background in art or art history; experience in art museums, auction houses and/or galleries a plus
  • General comfort with computers and computer software
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented

Time Commitment & Compensation

This is a semester-long, two-day per week commitment that may commence over the summer or in September and run through the end of the fall semester. A stipend commensurate with experience is offered.
