General Description:

The National Academy Museum and School, on Museum Mile in New York City, seeks a Development Associate to manage one annual giving program, special events, financial and other reporting, fundraising database, and gift processing and acknowledgment. 3 years’ experience and entrepreneurial, team-focused, positive approach required.

  • Assume responsibility for one of the Academy’s annual giving programs
  • Manage department budgets; generate contributed revenue reports and additional reports as required
  • Plan and manage all development department event logistics, including generating invitations and lists, collecting responses, and preparing bios on guests; coordinate with event vendors and interdepartmentally as required
  • Maintain events and fundraising schedules
  • Manage all incoming contributed revenue and gift acknowledgement
  • Ensure proper gift allocation/reconciliation and track schedules of annual and multi-year gifts and pledges
  • Maintain donor database; update donor records; run queries as requested
  • Assist members of the development team with administrative tasks, as needed

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Passion for and knowledge of art history a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated success working as a team member
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills, adroit in a public-facing role
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and superior fundraising database management skills
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Strong sense of personal accountability and follow-through
  • Passion for the Academy’s mission
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a strategic team
  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, strong work ethic, and high degree of professionalism
