The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston has is accepting applications for a host of unpaid internships in departments throughout the Museum for the fall 2015 semester. In fact, we are currently seeking to fill 35 internship positions in departments as varied as Conservation & Collections Management; Development; Education; Public Programs; Retail Operations; the School of the Museum of Fine Arts; Volunteer and Community Engagement; and of course several of our curatorial departments.

A full description of each available internship opportunity, as well as detailed application procedures, can be found on the Open Internships page, and the Internship Opportunities pages, respectively, of our web site. (The Internship Opportunities page also contains a list of Frequently Asked Questions with answers, which we encourage your students to review carefully prior to submitting their applications.)

Our application process operates on a rolling basis so positions remain posted until they are actually filled.  We hope to have all positions filled by Friday, September 18, so we ask  that all applications be submitted as soon as possible but no later than Friday, September 11 (for any positions still posted at that time. (All selected interns must attend an orientation on Saturday, September 26, at 9:30 a.m. – and may begin their internship the following week.)

We hope that as you meet/speak with students you will feel comfortable making them aware of our internship opportunities. Over the past 6-8 years we have hosted over 600 interns; and many have gone on to pursue careers in the museum field – approximately 20-25 right here at the MFA. Moreover scores of our interns have described their experience here as “…beyond anything I could have expected…” and “…a great insight into the real world of non-profit work…”
