Job Description

The Milwaukee Public Museum seeks a dynamic, smart, personable, highly organized and efficient Executive Assistant to join its administrative team. The Executive Assistant reports to the Museum President and will support him as well as, working with the Director of Board Engagement, the Board of Trustees in their projects. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proven project management experience.

Candidates should have experience managing a wide bandwidth of responsibilities, relationships, and personalities. The position requires a variety of executive abilities, including synthesizing large amounts of information and integrating it into directed actions, prospectively anticipating problems or issues and moving effectively to mitigate them, and the ability to establish and maintain effective professional boundaries while simultaneously building collegial relationships with colleagues, Board members, and others who interact with the institution.

The position requires a high degree of self-motivated professional capability to undertake administrative duties including complex scheduling, expense reports, meeting setup and catering, taking and distributing meeting minutes, correspondence, and the like with little or no direct supervision.

The Executive Assistant will be a highly self-motivated, mission-driven team player. Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a good work ethic are required, as is a high level of diplomacy and discretion in handling confidential information.

The Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) is a comprehensive natural history and cultural museum located in Wisconsin’s largest city (MSA pop. 1.7 million), and the most-attended museum in the State with diverse annual visitation of nearly half a million. MPM holds a collection of some 4.5 million objects, has 150,000 square feet of galleries on four floors, and is one of the oldest natural history museums in the nation as well as home to the first natural history diorama in the world, created in 1890.
