Museum Educator

Use the resources of Mystic Seaport to share stories of America and the sea with audiences of all ages and learning styles. Facilitate interactive, hands-on, engaging, and inspirational learning for school and other groups pertaining to the Museum and maritime history. This position will also provide programming for two New London elementary school’s Expanded Learning Time (ELT) program. The Expanded Learning Time (ELT) program is redesigning schools to offer students new learning and enrichment opportunities made possible because of an expanded school schedule. The duties of this position change seasonally: from late August to mid-April, this job entails teaching 3rd or 4th grade students in the ELT program Monday-Friday from 8am-9:30am, leading on-site tours for school groups and adults at Mystic Seaport, and working for the Museum’s digital and primary source education initiatives- including website content updating, image processing, cataloging and maintaining the Education Department Collection. From mid-April through late August, this position will continue to provide on-site tours for school groups and adults as needed, and work with the digital and primary source education programs. The specific work with our digital and primary source education programs is grant funded and ends April 30, 2018.
