Event Technician Intern

Time: 24 hours/week
Interns at Design Museum Boston are provided with some of the most unique experiences one can receive as a student. Interns play a vital role in the success of the organization and take a hands on role in an environment that is fast-paced and very public facing.Design Museum Boston is seeking an Event Technician intern to join our team this fall and assist us in executing and coordinating the production and editing of video and audio from our high quality educational and social events. Design Museum Boston is a distributed museum, meaning we don’t have a single physical location — we plan events in unique locations all over the city to be as accessible and interesting as possible.   Audio and video feed from our events is an enormous asset to us, since we don’t have a permanent, physical space to reference; Audio and video become our permanent collection. Event tech is a particularly important detail that we hold in high importance to make sure that our events are consistently well done.
Intern Responsibilities:

  • Flexible 24 hr work week schedule
  • Intern must work on location at Design Museum Boston HeadQuarters @ 50 Milk St., Boston
  • Intern must work on own personal computer and bring to the offices (Design Museum Boston will provide intern with any necessary computer programs)
  • Go on site-visits in Boston area (all accessible to public transit)
  • Hands on at events, able to lift 50 lbs
  • Responsible for Design Museum Boston’s video and audio equipment
  • Capture audio feed during events; Mix and edit feed post-event
  • Film educational events; Edit video feed post-event
  • Ability to solve problems, work independently and in groups
  • Able to take feedback, willingness to learn new skills
Qualifications:
Experience necessary:

  • Technical production experience
  • Familiarity and background in filming, recording, and editing video and audio feeds
  • Organizing & maintaining schedules
  • Have worked on multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously
  • Ability to troubleshoot & solve problems on the spot!
  • Experience working with many different types of people!

Qualifications:Knowledge of the following tools/processes required:Pages, Keynote, and Numbers, Googledocs, Dropbox
