Security Technology Manager

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Security, the Security Technology Manager will be responsible for the technical and administrative aspects of the Security Department to assist in ensuring the protection, security and safety of the building, collections, staff and visitors. The Manager will also act as a Security Duty Manager as needed.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Handles the day to day operations, programming and maintenance for the museum’s security systems. These include access control, live and recorded video, security network, Morse Watchman KeyWatcher, GCS Patrol System, radios and all other security-related systems.
  • Manages software, firmware and hardware maintenance on electronic security systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Monitors, tests, and ensures upkeep of all physical security devices to ensure proper functionality.
  • Performs and composes analyses of data produced by security systems.
  • Performs preventative systems maintenance and backup in addition to assessing replacement schedule; ensures measures are in place for continued functionality of the security systems.
  • Serves as liaison with other departments to grant temporary special access for individuals and events.
  • Troubleshoots security systems issues.
  • Manages technology-related contractor and vendor relationships.
  • Oversees building additions, moves, repairs, and/or other maintenance work involving the security systems.
  • Recommends the purchase and procurement of security equipment and devices.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Security Department and Information Services Department.
  • Carries out new staff security orientations and creates Museum ID badges with appropriate staff access.
  • Makes budget recommendations to the Security Director and performs related billing oversight.
  • Generates daily system status reports and detailed incident reports as needed.
  • Trains Watch Desk, Control Room, and Patrol officers.
  • Conducts security scheduling in conjunction with the Associate Director for Security Operations for all shifts, events and details as needed.
  • Approves and submits security payroll and time off requests in conjunction with the Associate Director for Security Operations as needed.
  • Manages “Red Book” entry and distribution.
  • Manages gallery officers during regular business hours and special events as necessary.
  • Requests for Police details.
  • Assists in the hiring of gallery, watchdesk, control and patrol officer as needed.
  • Is available for security-related emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
  • Is on-call to work evenings and weekends based on operational necessity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience in security and technology
  • A minimum of 5 years of security experience
  • At least three years of previous supervisory or managerial experience
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both oral and written
  • A thorough understanding of security principles, technology and equipment
  • Experience working in cultural institutions preferred

Experience with C-Cure access control systems preferred.
