Project Coordinator for Education

Museum Institute for Teaching Science (MITS), Quincy, MA

MITS is a not-for profit corporation whose mission is to promote the teaching of inquiry-based science, mathematics and technology/engineering education at the K-12 levels in partnership with museums and other non-profit organizations. The Project Coordinator for Education works under the direction of the Director of Education to maintain current MITS programs and to provide programmatic and administrative support for these programs. The position is based in Quincy, MA with some travel throughout Massachusetts. Job Responsibilities -Design and maintain social media presence for MITS -Coordinate and keep updated the MITS Science By Connections web site -Assist with developing and maintaining up-to-date internet resources for museum educators and K-12 teachers -Organize, purchase and manage program materials and supplies -Assist with marketing and promotion of MITS programs and resources -Assist with organizing and presenting professional development workshops, conference presentations and other opportunities for teachers -Assist with day to day office operations, including mailings, record keeping and other office tasks as required Qualifications -Bachelors Degree in education, science or related field, Masters Degree a plus -Formal and/or informal teaching experience using inquiry based, hands-on methods -Excellent writing, editing, organization and verbal communication skills -Familiarity with social media such as FaceBook, Twitter, etc -Familiarity with Google including Google Documents, Groups, Hang-out, etc -Ability to work both independently and in a team -Knowledge of national and Massachusetts education issues, standards, and STEM initiatives -Willingness to travel to meetings throughout MA To apply, send cover letter and resume to Sandra Ryack-Bell, Executive Director, MITS, 1354 Hancock St, Ste 302, Quincy, MA 02169 or mits(at)mits.org.
