Description

The University of Wyoming seeks an energetic and enthusiastic Assistant Curator to work with the curatorial team to support its exhibition, education, and academic engagement programs. Duties include managing and implementing a strong exhibition program, engaging in and advancing community and student engagement activities, coordinating social media posts, and, on occasion, supervising interns and volunteers.

The University of Wyoming Art Museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). It has a staff of 12 FTE plus contract teachers, interns, graduate assistants, and volunteers. With a strong philosophy in object based learning, it presents up to 18 exhibitions annually with a full complement of PreSchool – 16 education programs, public programs, and events and has a strong statewide presence. Requirements

Required

  • Master’s degree in art, art history, museum studies, or related field
  • 2 years professional experience in an art museum or gallery beyond internships
  • Knowledge of museum standards and exhibition practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and museum database systems

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to schedule and meet deadlines
  • Superb communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as needed
  • Demonstrated research skills
  • Track record of development and management of exhibitions, publications, and events
  • Schedule, implement, and periodically suggest new community-based programs, partnerships, and other engagement initiatives
  • Identify, initiate, and deepen relationships with various community and campus stakeholders
  • Strong social media skills
