SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Hall of Human Life Education Associate will be responsible for training staff and volunteer interpreters, and maintaining accurate logs of training including scheduling of volunteers. S/he will work closely with HHL Education Associates and HHL Program Manager to educate, inform and motivate volunteers to ensure an overall positive, educational and fun experience for MoS visitors. S/he will engage in on-going information research with Museum staff in order to assist in the development of new interpretations/programing and updating current interpretations in HHL. Assist in the daily operation of the Interpretation Program including maintaining and up keep of interpretation materials and interpretation spaces.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee, schedule and train approximately 2-5 Volunteers per shift, two shifts/day for a minimum of 104 shifts/year.
  • Present interpretations in HHL at minimum 2 per week for a minimum of 104 interpretations/year.
  • Assist in the creating of HHL interpretations, 1 per year.
  • Learn at minimum, 1 new interpretation per year.
  • Conduct an observational review every 2 months to ensure that volunteers are able to successfully speak on topics related to the HHL exhibit.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, 35 hours/week, with the following schedules available:

Schedule #1:

  • Sunday – Thursday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Schedule #2:

  • Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Schedule #3:

  • Monday – Thursday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Friday, 11:30am – 7:30pm

*Hours subject to change depending on Museum extended hours.

STARTING SALARY:

Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A./B.S. in Science, Engineering or Education major
  • A minimum of one course in human biology
  • One (1) year or more of Science, Engineering or Education experience.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating, both written and/or oral, the concepts of human biology
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment
  • Demonstrated organizational skills including attention to detail
