Executive Director

Nationally known visual art center, school & gallery located in Palm Beach County, Florida is seeking an Executive Director to direct the center through an exciting period of evolution & growth. The Center provides visual arts education, lectures, and exhibitions, as well as a nationally acclaimed Visiting Master Artist Workshop program.

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the Center & must demonstrate exemplary strength in fund development, fiscal management and leadership.  A foundation and interest in the arts is a plus.

Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS degree with 7 years executive management or senior administrative experience, or a MA/MS with 5 years executive management or senior administrative experience.
The candidate must demonstrate an ability to achieve aggressive performance goals.

Major Responsibilities:

As the chief executive of the Center, the Executive Director is responsible for providing overall management and direction to the agency to ensure the successful execution of the organization’s strategic plan, tactical operations, financial stability, community relations, and artistic direction.

Representative Tasks:

  • Establishes and accomplishes  goals that are consistent with the Center’s mission, values and strategic plan
  • Directs the preparation of the annual operating budget and ensures financial stability through adherence to prudent financial management principles; develops strategies and tactics to increase earned income through program delivery
  • Oversees and directs Fund Development activities: Identifies, cultivates and solicits new donors, develops donor recognition programs, expands donor base, maintains donor data base and expands donor giving program
  • Pursues funding opportunities from local, state and federal sources; secures grants/ funding from corporate and private philanthropy
  • Establishes strong, positive community visibility and relationships with other community organizations; ensures that the reputation of the Center is sound; communicates the Center’s mission to the media
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, and practices to ensure successful execution of tactical operations to meet the strategic objectives of the Center
  • Ensures the highest caliber staff is employed by the Center and measures staff performance; hires, terminates, and counsels staff as necessary
  • Reports to the Board of Directors on all matters of importance; seeks Board guidance on issues of substance.
