Museum Educator, Harvard Museum of Natural History

Seeking part-time museum educator (apx 17 hours/week) to teach hands-on classes inside the Harvard Museum of Natural History to visiting school groups and support the overall field trip experience. The educator will work within the education team with opportunities to learn from colleagues and contribute to the work of the department with additional duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have a background in biology or geology, experience teaching youth in a group setting, excellent oral communication skills, commitment to working as part of a team, and the ability to multi-task and adjust to changing situations. Requirements include: Teaching experience with K-8 audiences in schools or informal settings, and an understanding of and commitment to student-centered learning. Position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. This position is part time, approximately 17 hours per week for the duration of the school year. Typical hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:45am to 1pm with some flexibility. Pay rate is $17 per hour. It is not eligible for benefits.
