Description

This newly-created position at The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas (ASC) focuses on planning and implementing public programs for students and adults. PreK-12 programs include school tours, outreach, camps, family activities, and workshops. Adult programming includes special events, performing arts, evening classes, and fundraising.

The Arts & Science Center is accredited with the American Alliances of Museums and specializes in infusing Arts into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). ASC hosts art exhibitions, science exhibitions, music and theatrical productions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this museum management career track position holds a bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) and undertook a course of study in the Arts, education, non-profit management, or communications. Proof of at least two years of experience in successful event planning, tours, or non-profit program development and management required. Proof of excellent organizational, planning, written and verbal skills required. Candidate must be a “people person” and have the ability to exceed visitor expectations.

The person in this position must: have reliable transportation; move, transport, or install 40 pounds; stand for 4 hours; occasionally ascend ladders; set-up and break down tables and chairs; and work independently or as a team. Public Programs Coordinator/Director must have the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays. The work takes place in a fast paced, public environment. The position of Public Programs Coordinator/Director is not an entry level position, work experience is required; job title is commensurate with experience. Salary range is $29,500–$35,000 plus health insurance and paid holidays. Position open until filled. EOE.  No phone calls please.
