Development Assistant

New Bedford Whaling Museum, New Bedford, MA

The Development Assistant is a vital member of a small development team charged with an ambitious fundraising agenda. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Assistant provides administrative support for all aspects of fundraising and special events. Primary duties include daily gift processing, data entry, and donor acknowledgement. The Development Assistant also manages the Museum’s Raiser’s Edge fundraising database and donor files, providing valuable support for monthly financial reporting and yearly audit preparations. The Development Assistant will manage the direct mail and e-mail membership renewal process and fulfill member benefits for the Museum’s 3,000 members. The Development Assistant also provides support for Museum fundraisers and special events, including RSVPs, guest list tracking, and event management. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelors’ degree and experience with data entry, database management, valid driving license, and excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). This position requires occasional nights and weekends. Preferred qualifications include experience in a non-profit environment and proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or comparable fundraising database software. Museum experience a plus.
