Associate Manager of Exhibitions and Online Projects

This position reports to the Deputy Director for Operations, Exhibitions, and Design (Deputy Director), and is responsible for managing the planning, development, and implementation of all changing exhibitions and installations, as well as ongoing management of the Museum’s core exhibition, Behind the Screen. This position also manages content updates the Museum’s website and other special projects.

Duties include:

  • Coordination of all practical arrangements for each exhibition, including artist/curator agreements, development of exhibition floor plans and elevations, sourcing and acquiring estimates, acquisition and maintenance of supplies including any AV equipment or other digitally-based assets, travel and accommodation of exhibition partners, photography, press previews, opening reception, and exhibition-based member events
  • Working closely with the Chief Registrar on arrangements for shipping and any conservation, framing, or other object preparation required for exhibition
  • Working closely with Deputy Director to maintain exhibition schedules and budgets
  • Working closely with Assistant for Graphic Design and Production to manage production of exhibition-related graphics and publications
  • Ensuring that relevant staff members are informed of specific needs and activities required, and that all museum staff are properly informed of relevant activities happening during exhibition development, installation, and opening events
  • Liaising with external partners, artists, and curators
  • Liaising with publicity and marketing individuals for all exhibitions and online publications
  • Production of reports and presentations when required
  • Assisting with funding and grant proposals when required
  • Managing logistics of special projects, including one-time events

Duties related to the Museum’s website include:

  • Working with the Museum’s Marketing and Public Relations team to assure accuracy and timeliness of postings to the Museum’s website, including information about the Museum’s film programs, exhibitions, and special events.
  • Overseeing production of new, and redesign of existing, online publications
  • Managing website upgrades or web development projects when required

Education, Experience, and Qualifications Required:

Undergraduate degree and a minimum of 3 years experience in a related field; knowledge of related software, such as such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Word, Excel, Power Point, Acrobat, Flash, and HTML. Experience with CAD software (Vectorworks) would be a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate in a team context, and to simultaneously manage multiple projects with individual set schedules.
