King’s Chapel, Boston, MA

The King’s Chapel Freedom Trail Program Director is responsible for overseeing the operations, programming, staff, and finances of King’s Chapel’s Visitor’s program. The Program Director plays a key role in community outreach by developing and presenting educational programs about King’s Chapel’s history in the city of Boston, as well as its existence as a living piece of Boston History as an active church. Responsibilities Include: Execute general administrative tasks supporting the Visitor’s Program Oversee merchandise and purchasing of other supplies Implement strategies to approach performance targets in relation to numbers of visitors, donations, sales, tours, etc. including basic practices of welcome, communication, and marketing Manage and train guides in basic knowledge base, public narratives, special tours, and other protocols related to effectively running the program Assume primary responsibility for the research, development, implementation, and evaluation of public programs related to King’s Chapel’s history, especially in relation to the religious history of Boston and King’s Chapel’s place in the broader story of American Religious Freedom and tolerance. i Perform other duties as necessary Qualifications: BA degree in American History, Museum Studies, Religious Studies or related field or equivalent experience Three years of experience in the education department of a museum or historic site Enthusiasm for and knowledge of American and Boston History; also knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of religious organizations Hours & Compensation: This is a full-time benefitted position with bonus incentive.
