Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President / CEO will be the visionary and operational leader for Hancock Shaker Village (HSV) as it enters into a new phase of growth, refining and implementing HSV’s Strategic Plan. Hancock Shaker Village is a living history museum dedicated to preserving America’s unique Shaker heritage and bringing to life the on-going Shaker story of principled living – sustainability, community, equality, non-violence, work, and a reverence for creating a “thing well made.” HSV’s richly diverse interpretive and educational programming transpires in 20 historic and 3 contemporary buildings, gardens, a working farm and CSA, and exhibits, inter-museum loans and traveling exhibitions. The successful candidate will be innovative, charismatic, and entrepreneurial with a proven record demonstrating strategic thinking, successful fundraising, strong management, and excellent communication skills, written and verbal. The candidate will have a passion for history, preservation and for HSV’s mission. The primary liaison between HSV and individual, corporate and foundation donors, the President will be HSV’s public face. He/she will lead its professional and volunteer staff in a fluid, dynamic, collaborative workplace. The ideal candidate will have track record of successfully leading change within an organization. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred. 5 – 10 years of relevant non-profit leadership experience, including business planning, fundraising, budgeting, staffing, preservation, programming, and working with a board of directors. Prior success raising funds from diverse streams. Excellent analytical, problem solving and team building skills.
