The Summer Education & Programming Intern will work with the Director and the Board on public programming, volunteer outreach and research. Duties will include, but will not be limited to, assisting with education programs and public events; assisting with children’s camps about art, history and nature; greeting site visitors and conducting garden walks. Projects include developing a new educational program, assisting with interpretive exhibits and completing a research project. Intern reports to Director. Weekend & evening hours required. Experience: Background and experience in education, in public programming and in the interpretation of history and/or natural history. Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, expertise in advertising through social media and experience with children and the general public. We encourage interest from students in history, education, natural history and horticulture. Work Schedule: June 11-August 13, 2016. (9 weeks. Exact dates somewhat flexible.) Ideally, the intern will attend 2 days of orientation prior to June 11. The workweek will consist of 32 hours spread over 5 days (Tuesday-Saturday), with some evenings and Sundays for special events. Flexibility is required in work activities and scheduling to meet the demands of the summer season. Stipend: $2,500 Expectations: Interns represent Friends of the Morrill Homestead, so appearance must be neat and clean.
