Evening Housekeeping Assistant

Reports to: Building Manager
Type: Hourly/non-exempt position; Wednesday-Sunday, 2pm-10pm (full-time)

Position Summary
The Housekeeping Assistants are responsible for a variety of duties involving the daily maintenance and cleaning of the Museum, under the direction of the Building Manager and Lead Housekeeping Assistants. Housekeeping Assistants are responsible for the proper and efficient cleaning of all public areas in the museum and all office spaces, meeting spaces and break rooms, ensuring the highest level of cleanliness

Responsibilities
• Clean offices, bathrooms, windows, floors and stairways, and other public areas of the Museum
• Trash and snow removal
• Change light bulbs
• Assist with set up and removal of facilities for special events
• Move furniture and objects as required and directed
• Perform other duties and assist the Building Manager and Lead Housekeeping Assistants as directed
• Uphold the highest standards of safety, cleanliness and conduct
• Occasional evening work is required (for Museum special events)
Qualifications:
• Individual must have at least 6 months previous experience in a similar position
• Ability to use judgment in interpreting and following both written and verbal instructions on assigned jobs
• Must be able to operate and move cleaning equipment
• Must be able to move furniture and equipment
• Must be able to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Excellent customer service skills
Physical requirements
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and ability to push a minimum of 50 lbs
• Ability to lift, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and snow removal equipment
• Ability to climb ladders
