Visitor Services Associate

Summary

Provides exceptional customer service to ensure visitors have a memorable experience during their visit, while assisting in all aspects of Visitor Services at Battleship Cove: admission and merchandise sales, answering questions and assisting in programming/events with education initiatives as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets visitors in friendly and professional manner
  • Sell admission, store merchandise, event tickets and memberships through POS system
  • Knowledgeable of museum and collections- able to answer guest questions
  • Actively promotes Battleship Cove, merchandise and programs
  • Process online, telephone and mail orders
  • Demonstrates familiarity with merchandise in store and museum’s events to answer inquiries and encourage sales
  • Direct visitors to other services as necessary: where to dine, other tourist attractions nearby, parking, etc.
  • Answer phone for general inquiries and transfers to appropriate staff if needed
  • Assists with promotion, registration (check-in) and implementation of museum programs/events, which includes: directing visitors to appropriate areas, answering questions and leading public programs such as tours, games, or workshops
  • Keep the front desk, visitor center and other museum areas presentable to the public. Light housekeeping- dusting and vacuuming, straightening and organizing stock in gift shop, checking for problems, leaks, stocking paper, towels, toilet paper, etc
  • Other administrative side jobs as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least two years customer service experience and a high level of customer service: friendly, proactive, excellent communication skills, prompt and professional
  • Familiarity with cultural resources in the general area
  • Familiarity with geography and history
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and climb staircases
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft office and basic data entry

Work schedule:As assigned by the Visitor Services Manager, to include weekends and some evenings.
