Art Loan Manager

Overview

The Art Loan Manager at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum is a key member of the organization’s Development and Corporate program teams, charged with the daily management of deCordova’s Art Loan Program, and stewardship of the Program’s relationships with existing and prospective Corporate Members and Lending Artists.

This position requires additional evening, weekend, and early morning hours in support of department events and meetings.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

· Assist the Director of Corporate Relations and Art Loan Program and fellow department staff to achieve a program goal of raising over $700K per fiscal year in Corporate Program support;

· Oversee Art Loan systems and processes, including:

o Corporate Member and Lending Artist tracking, research, recruitment;

o Lending Artist contracting and stewardship;

o Lending Artist membership and benefits management

· Working with the Art Loan Inventory Manager, oversee registrarial duties as related to lending artist artwork location notification, including selection, installation, and rotation. Ensure thorough condition tracking of artworks on and offsite. Coordinate return of artwork in need of conservation or repair to artists or conservator

· Assist Director of Corporate Relations and Art Loan Program in the planning, design and execution of special event and programs

· Oversight of art work selection for loan to Corporate Members in advance of rotation schedule

· Review inventory and select pieces based on clients’ historical preferences

· Support the Director of Corporate Relations and Art Loan Program and fellow staff in promoting the Corporate Program and its benefits throughout Greater Boston’s corporate and art communities via creative, multi-channel marketing, business to business networking, strategic partnerships, and special events and programs that highlight the Program’s benefits for participating artists and businesses

· Oversee the content development and management for publication on program blog, corporateartloan.org

· Support Director of Corporate Relations and Art Loan Program in building and maintaining relationships with key Corporate Member contacts and connecting Corporate Members meaningfully with deCordova and its mission, and with the region’s community of artists

· Manage the timely production and distribution of all research, proposals, contracts, reports, acknowledgements, meeting materials, and Raisers Edge records related to the Art Loan Program

· Maintain professional growth and development through self-directed learning and through seminars, workshops, and conferences (as institutional budget allows)

Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of artist and/or program management, preferably in cultural institutions

· 1+ year’s curatorial and exhibition-based program development experience strongly preferred

· Ongoing interest in the corporate development process, development operations, and program management

· Prior art handling experience, including experience with contemporary collections of both 2 and 3-dimensional objects

· Interest in prospect and relationship management with contemporary artists

· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in person, on the telephone, and in writing with supervisors, staff, trustees, and other key stakeholders

· Strong planning, strategic and organizational skills to effectively manage and prioritize work flow and timelines

· Strong written communication skills, ability to compose correspondence to high level stakeholders with accuracy

· Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Gmail. Use of Raiser’s Edge database software and Mimsy collections database software preferred; effective use of email marketing platforms

· Ability to maintain a positive attitude and sense of humor while working under pressure and against deadlines

· Demonstrated experience working in a team environment

· Ability and willingness to lift 25 pounds overhead; work on ladders and step stools during installations

· Experience, competency and comfort driving a medium sized box truck. Clean driving record required
