Description

The Smithsonian Office of Advancement seeks experienced and creative candidates for an Online Fundraising Manager as part of the Digital Philanthropy team. Reporting to the Associate Director, Digital Philanthropy, the Online Fundraising Manager is responsible for planning digital strategy for the Friends of the Smithsonian membership program and managing online and onsite digital engagement projects aimed at growing the Smithsonian’s email list. This includes developing strategy and content for appeals and list-growth campaigns, analyzing metrics, and advising best practices.

The Online Fundraising Manager also manages special projects in support of museums that fall under the Smithsonian umbrella. This includes crowdfunding campaigns (including but not limited to Kickstarter) and pan-institutional list-growth activities. The Online Fundraising Manager also oversees si.edu/giving, smithsoniancampaign.org, and the development of giving campaign microsites. Project management duties include development of content and strategy, convening colleagues from Smithsonian museums, and shepherding projects through internal review processes.

The Online Fundraising Manager is part of a team of four, and also acts as a liaison with vendors and/or contract employees. As part of the Smithsonian’s central Advancement office, the Digital Philanthropy team also offers guidance and best practices, as needed, for the online fundraising needs of the various museums and research centers that fall under the Smithsonian umbrella. The Online Fundraising Manager offers strategic and technical guidance on an as-needed basis and periodically conducts training in online fundraising best practices.
