Description

The Fabric Workshop and Museum (FWM), an internationally-acclaimed contemporary art museum in Center City Philadelphia, seeks a full-time Communications Manager with demonstrated experience in marketing and public relations. Ideal candidates will have communications experience within non-profit or for-profit sectors, as well as an interest and passion for contemporary art. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Administration and will work closely with FWM’s senior staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively promote FWM’s exhibitions, residences, and programs in order to drive audience growth, cultivate visitor loyalty, and enhance the institution’s local and international reputation
  • Prepare and execute marketing campaigns that integrate print, broadcast, and digital media outlets; develop and track budgets, deadline schedules, and outcomes for each campaign
  • Coordinate all communication with design consultants, PR firms, and advertising outlets
  • Manage and maintain FWM’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), email marketing system (Constant Contact), and website, in coordination with FWM’s visual media staff and design consultants
  • Cultivate and build relationships with new and existing media contacts
  • Draft publicity text—such as press releases, announcement cards, and listings—for institutional review, manage the distribution or submission of final materials
  • Oversee logistical planning of all press previews and visits
  • Liaise with various Museum departments to develop communication strategies and messaging
  • Archive and report on all marketing and public relations initiatives to senior staff, board, funders, and other constituents
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; coursework in marketing, public relations, or art history desired
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional communications experience
  • Proven track record in media relations; established local contacts a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively in a deadline oriented environment
  • Familiar with digital technology and experience with social media and emerging media
