Description:
The Senior Development Assistant supports the fundraising efforts of the MIT Museum, working closely with MIT Arts Development Officer, Director and Associate Director. Performs administrative activities including prospect/donor tracking and management, assisting with prospect research, drafting and producing correspondence, memos, and reports, organizing and staffing meetings and development events, and follow-up.

Responsibilities:

Become proficient with donor software (Advance) to maintain, manage and report on prospect/donor data. Create new reports and modify existing reports.

Provide research assistance and development support in coordinating Museum fundraising appeals.

Draft briefing reports and background information to be used for cultivation and solicitation meetings.

Coordinate stewardship by gathering pertinent information and drafting stewardship letters and reports.

Serve as lead contact for fundraising events, drafting and producing invitations, RSVP tracking, coordination of event logistics, etc.

Qualifications:
Requires high school education or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Must be proficient with MS Office and comfortable learning new software, and have broad knowledge of office procedures. Experience maintaining website.

Ability to independently organize, prioritize and carry out detailed procedures with minimal supervision, and to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects. Must be able to take initiative and be thoughtful, resourceful, motivated, well organized, detail and process oriented, able to problem solve, and willing to learn and adapt.

Ability to communicate and interact well with others.

Proficient writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Development experience and/or familiarity with non-profit organizations or higher educational institutions preferred.
