Description:

Visitor Experience Associates are responsible for promoting a fun learning experience for all visitors.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Engage with visitors in a welcoming, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Promote the Power of Play through programming and visitor engagement.
  • Provide 5-Star service to visitors throughout the Museum.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and ongoing trainings.
  • Perform daily opening/closing duties throughout the Museum such as routine cleaning, restocking, and preparation of program materials.
  • Assist with birthday parties and group visits as needed.
  • Accurately process cash, credit card, passes, and membership sales in a fast-paced environment
  • Complete Admissions paperwork with great attention to detail
  • Accurately count in register drawer at the beginning of a shift and reconcile it at the end of a shift
  • Engage children and families to maximize their learning and enjoyment in the museum byoffering a welcoming, courteous, professional, and safe presence and environment
  • Welcome visitors at the Admissions desk and collect necessary source code and zip code data
  • Act as a first floor visitor guide and staff support such as greeting, visitor hand stamping, and crowd control
  • Provide visitors with general information regarding Museum exhibits, programs, and services
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college experience preferred.
  • Advanced course work or experience in customer service,education, family learning, or retail operations preferred.
  • Experience working with young children (ages 0-8) and their families in recreational settings, after-school programs or classrooms.
  • Ability to engage positively with all visitors.
  • Previous cash handling experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact positively with children, adults, and large groups.
  • Ability to react positively to a rapidly changing environment and make good decisions under pressure
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work with diverse staff and visitors.
  • Fluency in multiple languages a plus.

Relevant Factors

  • Weekends, holidays required.
  • Punctuality and attendance are required for assigned shifts.
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
  • Periodic outdoor work may be required.
  • Uniform/dress code required.
