Description:
The Bookshop Coordinator oversees the CRC/bookshop at Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts (CCVA), which carries over 600 titles of contemporary art, design, and architecture publications. He/she serves as a primary point-of-contact for visitors, and is responsible for creating highly positive experiences for visitors by providing guidance and information about the books and CCVA exhibitions.
Additional duties and responsibilities
• Responsible for daily operations: welcoming and informing visitors, using credit card system, counting cash, tracking number of visitors, sending daily reports, creating sales reports, managing inventory, and maintaining tidy and organized physical space
• Writing and creating engaging content about books, CCVA exhibitions and artists for social media
• Cultivate customer relationships with local art institutions, schools, and libraries through outreach and marketing
• Additional administrative duties relating to CCVA programs include arranging travel, and event coordination
Qualifications:
• Must be able to work Thu–Sat, 12–6 pm, and occasional evening events.
• Candidates should be knowledgeable about contemporary art and/or art publishing. Bachelor degree in Studio Arts, Art History, Design, Architecture, or similar field is preferred. Previous retail or customer service experience is also a plus
• Must have proficiency social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, courteous and have good interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift boxes 30–50 pounds
