The Barnum Museum in Bridgeport, CT, seeks an experience Technical Coordinator for a National Endowment for the Humanities grant-funded project to create the P. T. Barnum Digital Collection. Applicants must have relevant experience; this is not an entry-level position. The position is part-time, up to 18 months. The Technical Coordinator will work with staff from both the Museum and the Bridgeport History Center (Bridgeport Public Library), and with a Cataloger/Metadata Specialist also dedicated to the project. Digital surrogates and metadata for approximately 1000 items, ranging from manuscripts and booklets to diverse types of artifacts pertaining to Barnum and his associates, are to be ingested into the Connecticut Digital Archive (CTDA). Photography and scanning will be performed by outside vendors. Technical coordinator will establish protocols, ensure consistency and that quality standards are met, and be responsible for uploading digital objects.
