SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Public Safety Officer/Shift Leader position will take on different responsibilities depending on days and schedule worked.

As a Public Safety Officer, They are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by being alert to potential threats through patrols and electronic surveillance, responding to emergency incidents, disturbances, and requests for assistance in accordance with the Crisis Management Plan and department policies and procedures. Responsible for maintaining smooth operation of garage entry and exit process, providing excellent customer service with garage operational issues and taking immediate and effective action to minimize service disruptions to staff, interns, volunteers, contractors, or guests.

As a Public Safety Shift Leader, They are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by coordinating the activities of Public Safety Officers on the shift including but not limited to: ensuring staff are properly trained to perform daily shift procedures and operational tasks; responding to emergency incidents and performing critical analysis of the circumstances to determine when to involve the Director of Public Safety or Assistant Manager or Public Safety and take preliminary action to safe guard staff, volunteers, interns, guests, and property prior to the arrival of the Director of Public Safety and/or Crisis Management Team designee; monitoring the Skidata garage system and garage capacity report to coordinate efficient garage entry and exit process; and accounting of garage bank and daily revenue.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 1.5 million visitors each year
  • 1.2 million square feet of property
  • 975 car garage capacity on 5 floors
  • 100+ lost children per year
  • 300+ medical incidents per year
  • 200+ incidents including but not limited to: theft, vandalism, criminal behavior
  • 24×7 operation which requires working on weekends, holidays & emergency closings
  • Daily customer contact
  • 24-30 school buses per day
  • Monitoring over 100 alarm points
  • Monitoring over 100 surveillance cameras

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, and this individual will be working the following positions on the following days:

  • Saturday and Sunday, 12am – 8am (Shift Leader position)
  • Monday & Tuesday, 12am to 8am, Thursday 10am-6pm (Public Safety Officer position)

Director, Public Safety

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science or Arts degree preferred
  • Three (3) years or more of security, incident response, and customer service experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated effective decision making using sound judgement
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
  • Experience training and orienting staff
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Ability to comprehensively operate Windows based computer systems and electronic equipment
  • Ability to remain alert
  • Written and verbal communication skills and thorough comprehension of the English language
  • Ability remain standing for long periods of time

STARTING SALARY:

Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.
