Description

Public agency seeks a Special Projects Manager. This position provides project management, analytical and technical assistance for planning, coordinating and implementing inter-agency and agency-specific special projects. These projects represent strategic initiatives which build on the agency’s role as the largest local supporter of arts and culture in the U.S. to expand equity, diversity, and inclusion within the City’s non-profit cultural sector and increase arts access for all New Yorkers. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Managing special projects from start to finish, including developing and maintaining project plans and other documents, managing and coordinating project elements, creating and reviewing work products, and ensuring efficient progress on implementation; Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to achieve project goals; Coordinating project team meetings, as needed, to advance initiatives; Developing and implement a process to review and record project commitments, milestones, and targets; Regularly reporting timely progress, information, and status updates to senior leadership; Maintaining project files and record-keeping as related to project administration; Preparing project briefs and presentations for internal and external use; Assisting with outreach and/or serving as a liaison to other city agencies and elected officials, as needed; Drafting correspondence, drafting and circulating inter-agency updates as needed; Monitoring projects and interactions that involve elected officials and government agencies, as needed. The preferred candidate must have excellent writing, analytical and research abilities, along with strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail and discretion, and the ability to multi-task. Demonstrated project management experience is required. The ability to effectively engage with a diverse constituencies and staff at various levels is essential. The preferred candidate will also know how to work productively under pressure, and take independent initiative. Knowledge of New York City government required. Previous experience with New York City government or governmental affairs is strongly preferred. A working knowledge of, and interest or experience in, the City’s arts and cultural community is also preferred. Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above. NYC Residency required within 90 days of appointment. EOE
