Description

The Schiele Museum of Natural History and Planetarium, Inc. seeks a Director of Development with the creativity, vision, and talent for increasing marketing and philanthropic giving outcomes. This important professional position is responsible for all fundraising and development activities as well as planning and implementing a comprehensive, strategic plan for the solicitation of major gifts, grants, special events, corporate and foundation support. The Development Director is a key member of the Executive Director’s leadership team and plays an active role in the advancement of the mission and image of the museum.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of three years of broad grant writing and fundraising experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working in a museum or other cultural organization

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrable successful track record of setting and reaching ambitious fundraising goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including extensive knowledge of fundraising software
  • Strong time-management skills; must be able to work efficiently on several projects simultaneously and prioritize deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with staff demonstrating sound judgment, and has strong attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and manage activities strategically and communicate those thoughts and plans as part of the staff team to coworkers and supporters
  • Ability to provide leadership and supervision to development team members
