Hello! My name is Nery Matías Calmo and I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering with minors in Biotechnology and Computational Chemistry! Currently, outside of classes, I am working as a Programming Intern at the Latinx Center, President of UIJ (United for Immigrant Justice), General Council of ISOT (Indigenous Students’ Organization at Tufts), and I am a Professional Development Consultant teaching a Culture and Diaspora course at Everett High School.
I am Maya Mam from a small town called Todos Santos Cuchumatan (cuchumatan = the town embraced by the mountains) and I speak both Spanish and Mam (the indigenous language of my people). Aside from academics, I love traveling to new places, cooking, and taking photos as seen in the gallery above. I am super excited to be sharing my experience as a person in college and also my journey as I navigate the future!
thank you!!!!!
