PACT’s mission is to gather empirical evidence to inform and guide the adoption and use of innovations supporting drug development planning, execution, analysis, and reporting.
The goals of the PACT Consortium and participating organizations:
- Establish consensus definition and metrics for benchmarking DCT use and impact
- Objectively gather hard data (dependent and independent variables) on actual DCT use cases
- Develop evidence-based insights to inform strategies and practices to optimize DCT deployments
The focus of PACT is threefold:
- Advance the awareness and understanding of DCT – where we are, the growing landscape, rate of adoption, and potential benefits and pitfalls of DCT elements
- Capture hard data on ROI, patient benefit, and cost – helping biopharma companies advance the right study designs through an Open Data model
- Provide a complete, unbiased picture – considering the operational considerations, challenges, and potential site issues that come into play
Statement of Collaboration
PACT is a pre-competitive community of clinical research stakeholder organizations working together to create and execute consensus-based methodologies designed to gather robust empirical evidence. PACT routinely meets to discuss and interpret study findings. The consortia are committed to sharing their findings and insights via publications and meetings with professionals throughout the global clinical research enterprise.
In its first year, PACT has made significant progress in capturing real-use data on virtual and remote solutions supporting clinical trials. Results from the year one analysis indicate that:
- Sponsors and CROs believe that one-third of all protocol procedures, and half of all study visits, could be performed remotely.
- Companies are using on average 4 DCT solutions per clinical trial, most often in support of study visit activity.
- For DCT-supported clinical trials, actual timelines from the first site activated to the last site activated, and from the first patient to the last patient enrolled, beat planned timelines.
- Select DCT deployments (e.g., specialty labs) are associated with higher enrollment diversity.
PACT activity is being conducted in coordination with DTRA, MRCT, CTTI, and other organizations and associations.
